Carol P. Fritz, former Manchester resident and retired Elementary school teacher for the City of Beverly, passed away in her sleep on Mother’s Day, May 10, 2020, in Ocala, Florida at the age of 91. Born to Harry D. Berry and Bertha F. Berry in North Andover on February 19, 1929, she was raised on the family farm in North Andover during the Great Depression and the World War II years. She discovered her passion for teaching early in life and graduated from Bridgewater State College with a B.A. and Tufts University with a Master’s Degree in Education, and entered the teaching profession in Springfield. She concluded her thirty-five-year elementary school teaching career at the Hannah School and then teaching the Enrichment Program at the McKay School in Beverly in the late 1980s into the early 1990s. Teaching elementary school children was her life and love. Many spoke of her teaching skills as gifts from God. She was an old-fashioned school teacher whose methods, passion, and dedication won the love and respect of her students, administrators, fellow teachers, and most importantly, parents.
She became a resident of Manchester in 1958 when she married a local man, Charles A. “Brud” Fritz, Jr., (1914-2007). They resided at 13 Ancient County Way until 1991 when they moved to Dunnellon, Florida. The family conducted a private ceremony at the Florida National Veterans Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
She is survived by her two sons, Charles Fritz of Ocala, Florida and Randy Fritz of Tallahassee, Florida.
