Manchester Artist KJ Carvalho’s Work on Exhibit at Santander Bank Through March 4

Posted

A collection of paintings by Cape Ann artist KJ Carvalho is currently on display at Santander Bank‘s Manchester Branch through March 4.

KJ Carvalho works from her home studio in Manchester-by-the-Sea and most recently exhibited her work locally in September 2019.

Her love of the ocean, the North Shore’s rocky shoreline, nearby tidal marshes and marine and bird life are seemingly brought to life in her oil paintings through the use of contrasting and harmonious colors and bold compositions.  As a scuba diver, boater, and general lover of the outdoors, caring for the environment and supporting sustainability are key to the artist in visually designing a painting that conveys the natural beauty around us and to serve as a reminder to care for and protect the natural resources that we all share.  KJ finds inspiration for these natural subjects also through color, shape, and the quality of light, which helps her communicate and evoke emotion in her work.

KJ grew up in Darien, CT, as a part of a highly creative family that encouraged and inspired her love of art and painting from an early age. She graduated from The University of South Carolina with a BA degree in Graphic Design and pursued a long creative career in graphic design, advertising, web design, and painting.

The bank, located at 17 Union Street in Manchester, will host a reception for Carvalho from 9 to 11:30 AM Saturday, February 8.  The public is invited to attend to enjoy refreshments and meet the artist.
