Letter to the Editor: No Large Trucks Downtown

To the Editor:

Now that the intersection at Union and Beach Street is almost completed, I would like to propose prohibiting large trucks from going through this part of town - from start of Union Street at School Street to Summer Street.  There is no reason large trucks exiting Rt.128 cannot proceed down School Street, and take a left at Lincoln Street, and then proceed down Summer Street into downtown.   Large truck traffic often starts at 4:30 to 5 a.m., and is very disturbing to downtown residents. Furthermore, large 18-wheeler trucks have difficulty negotiating the turn at Union and Beach Street. Since part of this roadway is State Road 127, the Commonwealth may have to be involved.
