Local Nomination Papers Now Available For Spring Election

Nomination Papers for 2021 local elected municipal positions in Essex are now available.  There are many open spots for local residents seeking to make a difference in the community. 

The deadline to obtain nomination papers 5 p.m. Friday, March 19, and the 2021 annual local election is Monday, May 10. 

The following offices will be on the ballot for the May 10, 2021 Annual Town Election: 

  • One Assessor for three years 

  • One Assessor to fill an unexpired term for one year 

  • One Moderator for one year 

  • One Selectman for three years 

  • One Board of Health member for three years 

  • Two Constables for one year 

  • One School Committee member for three years 

  • One Board of Library Trustee for three years 

  • One Planning Board member for five years 

  • One Housing Authority member for five years

CALENDAR 

The Office of the Town Clerk is open Monday-Thursday from 7:30am-3:30pm to pick up/drop off nomination papers and for voter registration.  

Last day to obtain nomination papers: 5pm on March 19 

Last day to submit nomination papers to registrars of voters for certification: 5pm on March 23 

Last day to object or withdraw: 5pm on April 7 

Last day to register to vote to participate 

in Town Meeting or the Town Election: April 13** 

**The office of the Town Clerk will be open from 7:30 am - 8:00 pm on the above date to accept voter registrations. All voters must register by this date in order to participate in the Town Meeting or Town Election. Mail in registrations must be also postmarked no later than the above date in order to participate. One can also register online before midnight on the above date at: www.RegisterToVoteMA.com.  

Annual Town Meeting will take place 7:30 pm May 3 at the Essex Elementary School, 12 Story Street  

Annual Town Election will take place from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 10, 2021 at the Essex Fire Station on Martin Street.
