Political platform statement

Christina Delisio of Manchester-by-the-Sea is a Republican candidate in the special election to fill the Massachusetts House 5th Essex District seat left vacant by the death of Rep. Ann-Margaret Ferrante. Delisio served two terms on the Manchester Planning Board, where she developed a reputation as a vocal critic of one-size-fits-all state mandates, including opposition to the MBTA Communities (Section 3A) zoning requirement.  She was involved in creating in a Facebook group opposing the 3A mandate, arguing the policy was poorly conceived and overreaching.

At her campaign launch, Delisio focused on local concerns she says are top of mind for Cape Ann residents: rising living costs, energy affordability, and what she views as growing state interference in municipal affairs.  She has emphasized the need for fiscal responsibility, accountability in government, and policies she believes will protect families and small businesses in the region.

Delisio argues that state policy decisions — particularly in energy and zoning — have not always reflected the interests of communities like Manchester, Gloucester, Rockport, and Essex.  Her campaign platform centers on restoring what she calls pragmatic leadership, limiting excessive regulation, and ensuring that Cape Ann voices are heard in Beacon Hill debates.

If nominated in the March 3 Republican primary, Delisio will face the Democratic primary winner in the March 31 special election.
