Mrs. Dorothy B. Wheaton, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. P.A. Wheaton was elected manager of the sophomore class hockey team of Middlebury College, Vermont.
Henry Winchester Cunningham, a former prominent summer resident of West Manchester for many years, died at his home in Milton at the age of 70.
Coach Hyland’s boys defeated Salem, N.H. last Saturday afternoon at the playground. The game started with Captain Jack Conlon winning the toss, Fred Bachman first touchdown and gave Story the lead which was increased in the third period with a pass from Nataloni to Bentley making the score 12 – 0.
Manchester’s Halloween party brought out the largest number ever. The Manchester school band led the parade from Story High School to the Memorial School while hundreds viewed the parade enroute.

500 people attended the Manchester Chowder Festival held last Sunday outside the Community Center. In a close battle for the chowder champion, Woodman’s narrowly beat Cherrystone’s for the “Big Pot” Championship. In the private category, Frank Flately won the honors.

The Powder House Hill Study Committee has just announced that it has raised funds to cover the first phase of a projected two-phase rehabilitation of this extraordinary natural/historic site – 55 acres in the center of town.
Manchester has recently installed two new stop signs in the downtown area. One sign has been placed on Union Street at the intersection of Beach Street. The second is located on Summer Street at the intersection of Beach Street.
