Mark Shomphe, 74, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at Blueberry Hill Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Beverly.
Born on October 11, 1951, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Mark was the son of the late Teresa (Shields) and William J. Shomphe. In 1959, the Shomphe family moved to Manchester when Bill accepted a position with Manchester Electric Company. Mark grew up there alongside his brothers, Peter and his twin Michael, who predeceased him in 2016. The three boys attended Manchester public schools and were proud graduates of Manchester High School. Mark especially loved playing football during his high school years.
After attending Boston University for several years, Mark eventually made his home in Minnesota. In 2005, he met Jean Dunn, and the two were married on September 28, 2007.
Mark was a proud member of Teamsters Local 638 and worked as a truck driver for American Fish and Seafood. He was a dedicated and hardworking man who also believed strongly in giving back, volunteering whenever he could at a local food shelf.
He had a passion for cooking—especially seafood—and happily took charge of the kitchen at home. Mark was a devoted dog lover throughout his life. As a young man in Massachusetts, he raised and trained Irish Wolfhounds, and later lovingly cared for his cocker spaniels and eventually a mini Goldendoodle.
An avid sports fan, Mark especially enjoyed football and baseball and treasured attending Minnesota Twins games with a close friend who held season tickets. He also enjoyed staying active at Life Time Fitness, golfing, and trying his luck at the casino.
Mark leaves behind his brother, Peter Shomphe of Pittsfield, Massachusetts; his stepdaughter, Erin Hansen; two step-grandchildren; his former wife, Jean Dunn; his cousin Donna and Doug Marshall; his cousin Bob Newis; his dear friends Vinny Terrill, Billy Davis, and Patty Ambrose of Manchester; and his devoted caregiver, Gayle Masiero, who cared for him faithfully over the past five years.
Per Mark’s request, there will be no services.
