Thanks to All Donors

To the Editor,

Masconomo Council 1232 Knights of Columbus Manchester-by-the-Sea thanks all residents of Manchester-by-the-Sea, Essex and Cape Ann who donated new, 1675 pairs of socks to its Annual Socks Drive to benefit the homeless and those who sleep rough.  Most donors generously donated multiple pairs.

Those socks will be donated to local area homeless shelters and social service organizations including: The Open Door, St Vincent de Paul-St Holy Family Parish, Grace Center, Wellspring House-all of Gloucester, Beverly Bootstraps and St Francis House, Boston.

Socks are one of the most important and useful clothing items that are provided to homeless people.

Clean socks promote good hygiene and health, provide warmth during the cold winter months, and radiate the love of community goodwill.  They are the item most sought by the homeless in our midst.

Last year more than 1,200 pairs of socks were donated.  Council 1232 exceeded that number in 2026 by more than 40 per cent.
