It’s love, makers and live drawing at this year’s Rocky Neck Winter Fest, the popup art festival put on by the Rocky Neck Art Colony (RNAC) will take place Saturday and Sunday, February 10 and 11 in East Gloucester.
SATURDAY, FEB. 10
RNAC Member Pop-Up Show "The Love Show" at Cove Gallery from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. will feature artwork inspired by the theme of—you guessed it—love. Among the talented artists are Manchester’s Juni VanDyke and Olga Hayes, along with Paige Farrell (who calls Rockport home but grew up in Manchester). Paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, and jewelry, all priced at $500 or less.
Exhibiting artists include Suzanne Agostino, Lisa Angelini-Adams, Paula Borsetti, Jennifer K Brown, Loren Doucette, Paige Farrell, Olga Hayes, L. Marie Lamarche, Juliet Lockwood, Barbara Lynch, Lynn MacLaughlin, Laureen Maher, Carmela Martin, Vanessa Michalak, Brian Murphy, Marcie Rae, Joyce Roessler, Juni Van Dyke, Deborah Way, and Beth Williams.
Then, it’s Live Portrait Drawing at The Cultural Center, also from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Experience live portrait drawings by local artists, including Janet Grover (RNAC), Jill Hoy (visiting artist), Caryl Hull Leavitt (visiting artist), Vanessa Michalak (RNAC), Brian Murphy (RNAC), Joyce Roessler (RNAC), and Amy Sudarsky (RNAC). Pre-register for a 30-minute portrait session here; walk-ins are welcome. $50 charge per portrait, with proceeds benefiting the RNAC and the artists.
If you’re not drawn in (get it?) by the live portraits, at noon at the Breezeway and check out the Polar Plunge. Get your own endorphins going by taking a leap or just watch others with more hutzpah than you. Warm up afterwards with hot chocolate at the Cultural Center. Or head over to the Salted Cod Arthouse for a Makers Event from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Create your own Valentine with artist Leslie Heffron and enjoy food and beverages at The Salted Cod Arthouse bar, or peruse RNAC members' artwork available for sale.
