It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Porter Clifton Webber, Jr. who died on August 6, 2025. He was a longtime resident of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA and more recently Exeter, NH. Known to his many friends and loved ones as Clif, he was nearly 95 years old.
Born in Boston, MA October 17, 1930 to Marie (Moore) & Porter C. Webber and sisters, Jeanne W. Clark and Nancy W. Fulton, Clif was a man of remarkable business acumen, had a natural talent for design, and a lifelong love of sailing and fishing. A graduate of Babson College, he built a successful career spanning several decades marked by forward thinking, attention to detail and tenacity. As an avid fan of Boston sports, it was fitting that he would choose to pass at the end of a Red Sox game. His sense of humor was a defining part of his character, and he could always make people laugh, especially in challenging moments.
Clif was known for having a stern exterior, but this belied his deeply compassionate nature. He was a devoted husband and a committed, generous father and grandfather. His unwavering support and quiet benevolence were felt by many, especially his children and grandchildren.
He was preceded by his wife, Jean Sturgis Webber, and is survived by their four children, Louise, Emily, Prescott and Lindsay, and grandchildren, Henry, Annie, Eliza, Griffin, Sam, Gus, Phoebe, Caroline, Abby, Tate & Lauren.
Clif’s legacy is one of dedication, generosity, and wit. He will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. A private memorial service will be held for the family.
