Local students enrolled in college are now returning to school after the holidays but now is the time for colleges and universities across the country to announce last semester’s successes from local students. We’re happy to see that so many are doing well and have achieved academic honors:
Jennifer Baker, a Forensic Science major in the class of 2027 from Essex was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2023 semester at Saint Anselm College. To be eligible for this honor, a student must have achieved a grade point average of 3.4 or better in the semester with at least 12 credits of study which award a letter grade. Saint Anselm College is a private Benedictine liberal arts college in Goffstown, New Hampshire. Founded in 1888, it is the third-oldest Catholic college in New England. This semester, there were a total of 562 students from 24 states and 4 countries.
Cali Parkins, a sophomore from Manchester at Merrimack College was named to the dean’s List in the fall 2023 semester. Merrimack College is a private Augustinian university in North Andover, Massachusetts. It was founded in 1947 by the Order of St. Augustine with
an initial goal to educate World War II veterans. It enrolls approximately 5,700 undergraduate and graduate students from 34 states and 36 countries.
Gelsey McCue of Manchester has been named to the Dean’s List at James Madison University for the fall 2023 semester, which means that McCue, who is majoring in political science, has carried at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of between 3.5 and 3.899. Founded in 1908, James Madison University is a public university located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley and is one of the nation’s leading lights in higher education.
At the College of Charleston, Manchester’s Emma Fitzgerald was named to the school’s Fall 2023 Dean’s List. Fitzgerald is majoring in marketing. To qualify for Dean’s List students must earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher and complete a minimum of 12 semester hours. Located in historic Charleston, South Carolina and founded in 1770, the College of Charleston is a nationally recognized public liberal arts and sciences university.
Sneha Rising and Lila Carpenter, both Manchester residents, have been named to the Fall 2023 Dean’s List at Lasell University. In order to qualify, students are required to have completed at least 12 credits as a full-time student in that semester and have achieved a semester GPA of 3.5 or higher. An innovator in education for over 150 years, Lasell University today is a comprehensive coeducational university offering professionally oriented bachelor’s and master’s degree programs on a 50-acre campus is located in suburban Newton, Massachusetts.
At Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, Manchester resident Maren Graves was named to the university’s dean’s list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean’s list recognition.
Seton Hall University in New Jersey reports that Maximillian Samiei of Manchester has qualified for the Fall 2023 Dean’s List. After the close of every semester, undergraduate students completing all courses with a GPA of 3.4, with no grades lower than “C”, qualify for the Dean’s List. Founded in 1856, Seton Hall is one of the nation’s leading Catholic universities and home to more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students and offers more than 90 rigorous majors.
Sarah Potter of Manchester has been named to the University of Delaware Dean’s List for the Fall 2023 semester. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean’s List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.
Manchester’s Noella Hadaegh was named to the College of the Holy Cross Fall 2023 Dean's List. A member of the Class of 2026, Hadaegh was named to the Dean's List for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2023-24 academic year. To qualify, students must pass four or more letter-graded courses with no failing grades and earn a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
At Connecticut’s Fairfield University, Essex resident Peyton B. Falk has received Dean's List Honors for the Fall 2023 semester. In order to be placed on the Dean's List, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in a semester, have no outstanding or incomplete grades for that semester, and have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better.
Chris K. Siems, of Manchester, was named to first honors on the Clark University Dean's List, marking outstanding academic achievement during the Fall 2023 semester. At Clark, students must have a GPA of 3.8 or above for first honors or a GPA between 3.50 and 3.79 for second honors. Founded in 1887, Clark University is a liberal arts-based research university.
At the University of Massachusetts Amherst, the following local students have achieved Dean’s List for the fall 2023 semester, which means they received a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a four-point scale. From Essex, Abigail Rose Corrao, Travis J Duncan, Madison Katherine Lawler, Sydney Grace Levasseur, Connor Patrick McGrath, Anna Frances Penelope Pennoyer, Mauryn Tyack, and Emma Daniela Wonson. From Manchester, Antonia Katrina Cicala, Gannon Thomas Costello, Connor Patrick Cunningham, Amelia Katherine Donnellan Valade, Madeline Frances Donnellan Valade, Owen Clifford Donnellan Valade, Alanna Marie Fitzgerald, Colin Darbyshire Genta, Andrew Michael Grant, Margaret Qiang Graves, Amelia Frances Leonard, Eric Arthur Lico, Bridget Dunlap Miller, Jessie O'Halloran Miller, John Anthony Morgan, Jennifer O'Neil, Penelope Marsden Rodier, Matthew Richard Russo, Beren Jeffrey Schmidt, Giuseppe Galzang Tra, and Bridget Caylee Twombly.
At Tufts University, two local students have been named to the Dean's List for the Fall 2023 semester. They are Olga Gadmer Langman of Manchester (Class of 2027) and Carson Komishane (Class of 2026). Dean's list honors at Tufts University require a semester grade point average of 3.4 or greater. Tufts University, located on campuses in Boston, Medford/Somerville and Grafton, Massachusetts, and in Talloires, France, is recognized among the premier research universities in the United States.
At Hamilton College, a leading liberal arts institution located in Clinton, New York, two local residents have been named to the school’s Fall 2023 Dean’s List, including Hollis Mann of Manchester, a senior majoring in cinema and media studies and literature and Jackson Strout of Manchester, a senior majoring in economics and government. To be named to the Dean's List, a student at Hamilton must have carried a course load of four or more graded credits throughout the semester and earned an average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale.
Emily Jacobsen from Manchester has been named to the Emerson College's Dean's List for the Fall 2023 semester, which mean she held a grade point average of 3.7 or higher for that semester. Jacobsen is majoring in Writing, Lit and Publishing and is a member of the Class of 2026.
North Shore Community College announced that the following students listed below were Dean's List students for the Fall 2023 semester. From Essex, Julia Bundy, Kai Carroll, Deven Lichtenwald, Zachary Macdonald, and Sarah Perim.From Manchester, Andrew Alibali, Zachary Defaria, Mary Gough, and Scott Sutherland. Dean's List Honors are awarded to students who have earned six or more semester hours of academic credit with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.30 or higher.
Tommy Bowen, of Manchester has been named to the Fall 2023 Dean's List at Roger Williams University, in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester. Roger Williams University offers 50 majors and graduate and professional programs across eight schools, including Rhode Island's only law school.
