This week North Shore Community College (NSCC) in Danvers unveiled a new funded program that offers free advanced manufacturing training and eduction for local residents.
The program is designed to respond to the increased, unmet demand for skilled workers in the region. Job placement rates directly from the program have been over 80% with starting hourly wages for machinists of $22 - $25, and annual salaries ranging from $32,000 - $50,000+.
The program is funded through a partnership between the GE Aerospace Foundation, NSCC, Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School, and MassHire-North Shore Career Center.
Participants in the program will earn a National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) certificate in CNC milling plus college credit, free of charge.
Classes, which will be held at Essex Tech, are designed to start you on a path to a well-paying, secure career. It offers tracks for career changers and those looking to advance their career in manufacturing.
Also offered are high school completion and ESL tracks. Space is limited and applicants must attend an info session prior to registration. Classes begin in August.
