Carla Christensen is our new Library Director at the TOHP Burnham Library in Essex, succeeding Deb French who retired last month after nearly 20 years. Christensen will begin her new role on January 8.
A resident of Essex since 2004, Carla has been a member of the Executive Board of the Friends of the Essex Library as well as being elected as a Trustee of the library in May 2023.
Carla brings extensive community knowledge in addition to her experience as a teacher and in her business career in the educational publishing and software sectors. A collaborative innovator with 20 years of experience implementing and honing key communication, organization, and research skills along with managing, mentoring and inspiring teams, Carla looks forward to leading the library into the future. “Libraries are critical components of healthy communities,” according to Carla. “They offer equitable access to everyone, ensure education and continuous learning, support intellectual freedom, and bring culture and joy to communities.” Stop by the library and welcome Carla after the New Year.
