J Barrett & Company’s Manchester office this week presented its annual J Barrett Scholarship award to Lynn Benali of Manchester Essex Regional High School.

A member of the National Honors Society, Lynn will attend the Carroll School of Management at Boston College in the fall, majoring in Business Management and minoring in Sociology.  Over the years, she has been an active volunteer with community organizations such as the Piers Parking Sailing Center in Boston and the Acord Food Pantry in Hamilton.  Lynn plans to carry this passion for community involvement beyond her education focusing on social justice within the global business market.

The scholarship program, established almost 10 years ago by agents in the J Barrett & Company Manchester office, is for high school students in the Manchester school system interested in pursuing a college business degree.

“Our agents, many of whom have or had children in the school system, recognize that an educated workforce is vital for our economy today,” says Jon Gray, president.  “They wanted the ability to help students achieve their goals. The scholarship program is one way to do that.”

Agents stepped up to support the scholarship, and the fund reached a 100-participation rate with every agent in the office contributing to the scholarship program.  Funding was also a joint effort with J Barrett & Company matching the total amount raised.

“We are delighted to support our agents’ efforts as well as the community,” adds Gray.  “We appreciate the enthusiastic response our business has received for almost 15 years from the Manchester community. This is an opportunity for us—the agents and the company—to give back to the entire community.”

J Barrett & Company is also a long-time supporter of area organizations including The Open Door. “The decision to continue to support these groups comes directly from our agents who recognize the significant contributions these organizations make to all our lives,” says Gray.

“We are happy to do whatever we can to enable them do what they do best—help others.”

Established in January 2007, J Barrett & Company is the premier privately-owned real estate firm on the North Shore with offices in Beverly, Gloucester, Ipswich, Manchester, Marblehead, and in Prides Crossing.
