Lucille McDonough Goodwin

Lucille McDonough Goodwin, 83, wife of Donald Loring Goodwin, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage, passed away Sunday, November 12 at Seasons of Danvers Memory Care surrounded by loved ones after a courageous decade-long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.  Born in Salem, she is the daughter of the late Eugene and Lucille McDonough.  

Lucille was a life-long resident of Manchester-by-the-Sea.  She graduated from Story High School in 1958 and attended Green Mountain College in Vermont.  She loved her hometown of Manchester and spent many early mornings running with her dog on Singing Beach, sunning and socializing at Tucks Point, sailing with friends and was truly an amazing caregiver in her family.  Lucille was an excellent cook and enjoyed entertaining and family gatherings.  She loved live music and in particular enjoyed The Rolling Stones.  In Lucille’s later years, she enjoyed bird watching and spending time with her beloved great grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews.

She is survived by one daughter Lee Goodwin and her husband Richard Schwarzmann of Berkeley, CA; one sister Anne McDonough Mesgar of Manchester; one granddaughter Sophia Reed and her husband Brian of Richmond, CA; two great grandsons Christopher and Ryan of Richmond, CA; and a daughter-in-law Patricia Harris Goodwin of Beverly.  She is also survived by her nephew David Mesgar and family of Wenham and niece Betsy McDonough Brown and family of Vermont.  She is predeceased by her husband Donald L. Goodwin, son Daniel Judson Goodwin and brother Eugene P. McDonough.
