To the Editor,
Masconomo Council 1232 Manchester-by-the-Sea Knights of Columbus recently concluded its annual fall fundraiser with a strong finish on October 5. That signature Council program supports a wide range of charitable activities of which Council 1232 is justifiably proud.
The generosity of parishioners from The Visitation Parish, comprised of Sacred Heart, Manchester-by- the-Sea and St John’s, Essex, as well as that of supporters from throughout Cape Ann and beyond, enabled the Council to raise near record funds this year. That will allow Council 1232 to continue its charitable activity giving to a variety of organizations
Our fundraising success is attributable both to the support of the raffle by Cape Ann residents and to the generosity of Cape Ann restaurants and businesses that have supported the raffle with goods and services since its inception.
We are indebted to the following area businesses for their commitment to the community and Masconomo Council 1232 Knights of Columbus:

Masconomo Council 1232’s drive to raise funds to support worthy causes is a group effort. However, one brother knight deserves special attention and thanks for the fundraiser’s standout success. Richard Sullivan has been the catalyst, and the inspiration for this fundraiser’s success for more than a decade. We owe Richard a debt of gratitude and a round of applause. We also want to honor the memory of Tony Bullock who was a staunch supporter of our Annual Fall Fundraiser Raffle and all Masconomo Council 1232 activities. We miss him deeply.
Two of the most important words in the English language are PLEASE and THANKS. To all those who responded affirmatively to the Knights’ “Please” during our Tootsie Roll Drive on the weekend of October 18th, we give a heartfelt “Thank you”.
Masconomo Council 1232 Knights of Columbus thanks everyone in Manchester by-the Sea, and Essex who opened their hearts and wallets generously to support our annual Tootsie Roll drive to aid children with physical and intellectual disabilities. As in recent years the spirit of giving on Cape Ann was boundless and resulted in record collections on a beautiful weekend.
All canister contributions collected will be sent to a state “Tootsie Roll” fund. Ultimately, that will be tapped to provide financial assistance to children whose needs span a wide variety of physical and intellectual impairments. Recently local requests have been made of the Massachusetts State Council Knights of Columbus to provide financial aid enabling children to afford hearing aids, prosthetics, wheel chairs, physical rehab equipment,
adaptive software, ramps for the disabled and therapeutic aids.
In the past Council 1232 has intervened and advocated on behalf of children who could benefit from the Knights’ campaign due to a specific need. We welcome any request from a parent or family member who believes their child may be eligible for assistance. Feel free to contact the Council through our chaplain, Rev. Paul Flammia, Sacred Heart rectory 62 School Street, Manchester by-the Sea, 01944.
Thanks again for your generosity.
Steve Kuhn, Grand Knight
