On Saturday, the Jolly Old Elf himself arrived by (sleigh) boat at Manchester’s Masconomo Park. From his throne on the bandstand he made the day special for dozens of youngsters as he listened to their requests for Christmas gifts. For some it was the first time in Santa’s presence and the reactions from the children were heart-warming.
The Jingle Bell Walk was sponsored by the Greater Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce, Manchester Community Center, Manchester Mothers’ Club and the Parks and Recreation Department. The weekend event took the hit of bad weather, with rain and sleet featured much of the three days, but visitors came out in force to celebrate the holiday, shop, eat, and visit with Santa Claus.
