LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Here’s to Bion Pike, Employee of the Year!

Posted

To the Editor,

Congratulations to Bion Pike on being MBTS Employee of the year.  This is well deserved and overdue.  Bion has done a great job of organizing the harbor, moving people up the mooring list; still slow, but it’s a supply and demand situation.   He’s introduced floating docks that save mooring space and shallow water moorings that get small boats on the water instead of waiting for years.

The town has a regular dredging schedule.  Bion has added to our harbor services with a town operated pump out and new docks for visiting and transient boats.  This makes Manchester the only town north of Boston with 2 marinas, a gas dock, a supermarket, restaurants, a hardware store and retail stores all within 500 feet of their dockage.  How welcoming to out of towners and supportive of our downtown businesses.  The beach is only half a mile away.

Tourism is a growing sector in Manchester’s retail economy and what Bion has done to work with the stakeholders in the harbor and town will serve the town and its marine community for years to come.

All this with a smile and good spirit.

Thanks and kudos to Bion.
