27 Tree Limbs : Tree Issues in Manchester

Posted

To the Editor,

I worked for the town of Manchester for 13 1/2 years, in several capacities, and for many years now I have watched the 27 dead limbs on trees that run from the bottom of “Beach Hill” (Beach Street from the Old Neck Rd. turnoff up to Masconomo St.) and up to the Singing Beach Circle. My hope is that these limbs will be pruned before they come down on something, or someone.
Winter will surely affect them.
I understand the Friends of Manchester Trees guides and pays for the Tree Warden position, but the town carries responsibility as well. My hope is to have them pruned by winter, before they come down on their own.
Also, the Singing Beach circle has been sorely neglected. Vegetation hides the beautiful stone “knee wall” within the circle, and the sand build-up inside the circle is atrocious. I was under the understanding that Singing Beach was one of the largest draws to this community. It deserves better.
Sincerely,
William S. Bell
