Frances M. Brown, 79, wife of Albert L. Brown of Story Street, passed on Friday, September 9, 2022, in the Brentwood Rehabilitation Center in Danvers following her extended illness.
Frances was born on a farm in Peabody on June 7, 1943, one of the four children of the late Frank and Mildred (Brown) Rosa. She was raised as a young child in Peabody moving with her family at the age of 10 to Essex where she attended public schools and graduated in 1961 from the Gloucester High School.
Married in 1963 the Browns made their home on Addison Street for 20 years and Story Street for these past 10 years. Frances was employed for over 30 years as an assembler at Rule Industries in Gloucester from which she retired. Frances enjoyed hours of antique shopping, refinishing furniture, horseback riding and vacations camping with her family in NH.
She was a member of the former Essex Grange and a longtime member of the First Congregational Church in Essex.
In addition to her husband Al of 59 years, she is survived by two sons, David S. Brown of Dracut, Douglas A. Brown and his wife Alisa of Danvers; a daughter, Susan E. Brown of Essex; six grandchildren, Samantha Richards of FL, Sarah Noyes of NC, Emily Brown of Danvers, Andrew Brown of AZ, Heath Richards of AZ, Adam Brown of Danvers; six great grandchildren, Lizzy, Rhea, Leia, Skyler, Jasmyn, Soren and one sister, Sylvia DePiero of Beverly. She was the sister of the late Sally Grey formerly of Beverly and Joyce Polizzia formerly of Gloucester. She was also the mother-in-law of her son David’s late wives, Lynette (Golisano) Brown and Robin (Wunsch) Brown.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Saturday, September 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Whittier-Porter Funeral home, 6 High St., Ipswich. Her service and interment in the Spring Cemetery, Essex will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Society of America, 505 Eighth Avenue, Suite 902, New York, NY 10018.
