Essex Voter to Essex Voters: Vote YES to Prop 2 1/2

To the Editor,

I am urging Essex voters to support the Proposition 2-1/2 override and our public school FY26 operating budget, just as our partner, Manchester, has already done. I know that taxes are already high: I write as senior citizen living on a fixed income. I’m retired now but was a lifelong educator and am a grandparent to three in MERSD schools. I strongly believe in supporting today’s children and therefore tomorrow’s friends, colleagues and neighbors. Well-educated individuals become productive citizens, lifting all. There are few places our money goes that have more long-time impact than the decisive role schools play in our children’s lives.
Please: vote YES on the override.
