Ellen Harris, 73, of Manchester by the Sea, died at home this past March.
Born in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania on April 1,1950, she received BA degrees from Goucher College, and from Taiwan University and a MA from the University of Texas, Austin.
Prior to her retirement, Ellen was an Assistant Librarian at Harvard University for a decade. She also worked at bookstores and libraries during her entire forty-year career.
Ellen enjoyed helping students, reading and writing poetry, exploring different kinds of foods, living in and walking around Manchester (especially visiting Manchester by the Book and the Manchester Public Library,) and watching baseball.
She was pre-deceased by her parents, Vivienne D. Abrams and Edward B. Harris, and her brother, William B. Harris. She is survived by her brother, John A. Harris, her niece, Sasha Harris-Lovett and her nephew, Evan Lovett-Harris.
