Catherine H. (Lazisky) Angelson

Catherine H. (Lazisky) Angelson, 80, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, passed away with her devoted son-in-law Ted at her side on Tuesday evening, January 23 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.  She was the beloved wife of the late John L. Angelson Jr with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.  She was born in Boston, moved to Manchester-by-the-Sea in 1954 and graduated from Story High School with the class of 1961.  Catherine resided in Manchester-by-the-Sea until she married John in 1963 and they moved to Gloucester.  John and Catherine returned to Manchester-by-the-Sea in 1967 where she remained until the end of her life.

Catherine worked at the Manchester-by-the-Sea Town Hall until she became a mother.  After staying home to raise her family, she went back to work for Dr. John R. Dainton as his office manager for the remainder of her career.

Catherine was a talented artist who could paint, make jewelry, and work with stained glass.  She was an avid reader, loved gardening and was an excellent cook.  Catherine loved to travel.  She enjoyed multiple trips to the Caribbean and Costa Rica with her husband, and Cathy and John traveled the U.S. National Parks with her sister Joni and her husband Bucky. She has been to Europe several times with her daughter and finally realized her lifelong dream to visit Egypt in 2018 with her daughter and grandson Connor.  In her retirement, she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and volunteered at the Senior Center in Beverly.

She enjoyed a special bond with her son-in-law Ted, and he frequently brought her to the monthly American Legion dinners which she enjoyed so very much.

She is survived by her daughter, Danielle Angelson-Welch and her husband Ted of Woburn; two grandchildren, Connor and Parker Welch both of Woburn; two sisters, Joan M. Burgess of Groveland and Fran Carusso of Norwood and her nieces and nephews, Lynne Berkeley of Groveland, Diana Crane (Brett) of Gloucester, Tom Cusick (Lucimara) of Amesbury, Terry Cusick (Rachel) of Amesbury and Kim Angelson Maloney of Bay Bulls, Canada.  She was predeceased by her son, Brett T. Angelson and her brother, Joseph A. Lazisky Jr.

Her funeral service will be at Campbell Funeral Home, 525 Cabot Street, Beverly, on Saturday, January 27th, at 1 p.m.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend.  A visiting hour will be held prior to the service on Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m.  Burial will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Manchester-by-the-Sea.  Contributions may be made in Catherine’s memory to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, c/o Care Dimensions, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA 01923.
