The Hornet sailing team competed in the fourth annual North Shore Invitational Regatta against fifteen entries from Pingree, Landmark, Beverly, Salem and Manchester.

The supporting role seems to suit everybody on the Manchester Essex boys lacrosse team. The Hornets have picked each other up in light of injuries, sharing the challenge, responsibility and the credit that goes along with an impressive 5-1 start to the 2026 season.

The Manchester Essex Girls’ Tennis Team is off to an exciting start this season, boasting a 3–0 record in its opening week.

Manchester Essex girls’ tennis went 2–1 this week.  The Hornets opened April 6 with a narrow 3–2 loss to Ipswich.  Junior Sarah Cort and senior Grace Scarbrough won at first and second singles, while third singles and both doubles teams were defeated after competitive matches.

ME Boys LAX Tops HW

The Manchester Essex boys lacrosse team pulled out an early season victory over Hamilton-Wenham last week, with the Hornets defeating the Generals by a 14-5 score.

It was a standout season for Manchester-Essex Travel Basketball, as two girls teams captured championships in the Cape Ann Youth Basketball League, highlighting the strength and growth of the program.

It may be happening in a very familiar place, but it’s a whole new role for GG Huet. The former girls lacrosse standout at Manchester Essex just kicked off her first season as head coach of the Hornets team that she played for from 2018-2021, assuming the mantle from outgoing coach Nan Gorton.

Tennis, anyone?  While we’re at it, how about some lacrosse, softball and baseball, too?  The spring season kicks off this week for Manchester Essex Regional High School sports teams, so let’s get up to speed on how things look for the Hornets here at the starting gate.

The 50-35 loss that Millis handed to the Manchester Essex girls basketball team in the Elite Eight of the MIAA Div. 4 Tournament carries some extra weight to it.  The loss signals the end of the Hornets’ tournament run, the end of a magical and memorable season and the end of an era.

One year later, the Manchester Essex boys basketball team was facing the same team in the same round of the MIAA Div. 4 Championship.  The Hornets were once again matched up with Lynn Vocational Technical Institute in the Sweet 16 exactly one year and one day prior to the current matchup.

The Manchester Essex girls basketball team’s 2025-26 season was a magical one by all accounts.  The Hornets started out 3-7, then turned things around to win 11 of their last 13 games.

Nearly every member of the Manchester Essex girls basketball team contributed to the scoring total in a decisive 63-38 win over Bourne in the Round of 32 of the MIAA Div. 4 tournament on Feb. 28.  Lily Oliver led the team with 16 points, Harper Brooks had 9, Anna Gardner had 8 and Cordelia Riggs scored 7 in the lopsided victory.

In their first tournament game of the season, it was a case of no rust, no nerves and no problem for the Manchester Essex boys basketball team.

The Gloucester girls ice hockey team - a co-op with athletes from Gloucester High School and Manchester Essex Regional High School - are still in playoff contention despite struggling so far this season.

For a program that has traditionally had to do more with less, the Manchester Essex indoor girls track team has done more in 2026 than any other Hornets team that has come before it.

The Hornets were up against more than just a difficult schedule this winter; the boys team also dealt with a slate of injuries and illnesses forcing lineup and strategy changes based on who was or wasn’t available night in and night out.

The Manchester-Essex High School alpine ski team took part in the North Shore Ski League’s Interscholastic race on February 11th at Bradford Ski Area.  The boys team came in fourth and the girls placed fifth among the eight teams competing.
