The Manchester Essex alpine race team had a shortened week of racing due to the rain and inclement weather during the first week in February.  It was a difficult week of racing for the Hornets, with both the boys and the girls competing against league powerhouses. On February 3, the girls faced off against Austin Prep, losing 53-82, then Masconomet, losing again 9-126. "Masco has some very impressive skiers this year. They are talented and very deep; they have a real shot at winning the whole thing during the state tournament,” said head coach Tim Wonson. "It was also difficult for us having Hannah Hubbard out sick."  Senior captain Hannah Hubbard did not race due to illness.  The JV girls team lost to Masconomet 37-18.  Sienna Crocker, Anya Bixby and Amina Cifric all skied well, finishing within half of a second of each other.  The boys raced against St. John's Prep and Masconomet on February 4. They lost 15-120 to the Prep and 60-75 to Masconomet. Co-captains Ryan Clark and Alex Rosen took the top two positions for the team followed closely by Mason O'Grady who skied a terrific race. The JV boys shed some light on the week beating Masconomet 33-22 but lost to the Prep 10-45. Henry Coote won in the race against Masconomet and took third against the Prep.

On February 5, the girls lost to Georgetown 53-82 before beating Austin Prep with a score of 75-60.  Captain Hubbard won the race against Austin Prep and took third against Georgetown. The JV girls were not to be outdone, shutting out Austin Prep 55-0. Anya Bixby rallied, skied well and won the race.
