The Manchester Essex golf team claimed the Cape Ann League Baker Division championship with two strong victories last week. On Tuesday the team won the annual Old Cape Ann Classic tournament vs. league rivals Rockport and Ipswich at the Ipswich Country Club. Senior captain Ian Taliaferro shared medalist honors for the day with a strong 25 points. On Thursday the team traveled to Myopia to face Hamilton Wenham, and came away with a solid 106-94 victory. Charlie Gendron had the high score for both teams. Taliaferro, Sam Rice and Sam Athanas also posted strong scores. The Hornets finish the season with a Cape Ann League record of 9-2 (10-2 overall) and will play in the State tournament at Sandy Burr Country Club in Wayland on Monday.
