Posted

Last Wednesday afternoon the TOPH Burnham Library in Essex felt normal, in a great way.  The library staff planned a “Pop Up” library experience to bring back the idea of familiar browsing of the isles, only it was outside on the front lawn.  (“We know you've missed browsing,” read the announcement).  Library staff was on hand to answer questionshelp make selections and check out selections for people a mobile library setup.  Masks and safe social distancing wererequired.

At the same time, a wonderful sketching workshop was taking place, also outside and also at the grounds surrounding the Town Hall and library building.  Local artist Jess Yurwitz of Slow River Studios led participants in a drawing exercises.  All everyone needed to bring was a sketchbook, writing implements, a towel or chair and a mask.  It was a great activity for families, and the weather was stellar.
