Behind Tappan House at Newport Park off Pine Street a “little slice of Heaven on earth” can be found. Three neighbors, under the guidance of George Cooper, have developed a Community Garden. Pictured are George Cooper and Stephanie Tucci, not in the picture is the third gardener, Lisa Couture. On a small plot of land, they have planted flowers, grapes and vegetables, Stephanie is particularly proud of her pumpkins. Since they have been so successful, they plan on an expansion next spring to add more gardeners and container gardens including an herb garden.
