Former Manchester-by-the-Sea resident and busy actor Steve McCoy has checked in and he is off on a national tour again.  This time McCoy will star as "Grampa Joe," touring the country in Ronald Dahls' new musical production of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” the musical adaptation of Dahl’s classic book, which launched January 1 at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida.  The production is directed by three-time Tony winner Jack O’Brien.

The musical tour will travel throughout the country, making stops at different cities.  Locally it will be at the Hanover Theater in Worcester, MA from March 3–March 8.

Steve is a veteran of no less than seven national tours, having tap-danced his way across the country in “42nd Street” and having played King Arthur in Monty Python’s “Spamalot,” among other roles.  One of his favorite credits came with “Boy from Oz,” in which he played Peter Allen.  And Steve’s favorite saying to all is, “Have a great time tonight and enjoy the show!” This past year, Steve was awarded “Best Actor in a Musical” in Broadway World in Long Island by the theatergoers of the Long Island, NY area.

Residents are encouraged to come and enjoy the new musical, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”  Tour dates and city locations can be found online.
