Manchester 375th Celebration: What Now

Posted

Dear Manchester residents,

Our 375th Anniversary celebration started off with four great activities that provided fun, entertainment, knowledge and a chance to gather together to celebrate.  We have had a delayed Christmas tree bonfire, our first lecture from the Manchester Historical Museum, a two-part story-telling workshop at the library and a fantastic Gala event at the Essex County Club.

We have also been pleased with the response to our fund-raising request to support our activities.

We are now working to re-set our plans for the next two to three months due to the coronavirus public health emergency that we are living with.  Here are some of the details:

  1. The Manchester Historical Museum March 19 lecture, Manchester 101, has been recorded and is on the MHM website: manchesterhistoricalmuseum.org-- click on lectures/video.  The April 16 and May 21 lectures will also be available at this site.
  2. The Manchester Film Festival, scheduled for April 21st to 24th is going to be rescheduled.  No dates available at this time.
  3. The High Tea at Sharksmouth on May 21st will be rescheduled for the fall.  We are working to get a date selected at this time.

We are hoping to re-start our 375th Celebration with the June 18th town birthday party, panoramic photo and concert at Masconomo Park.  More details will be released as we approach that date.

We are instituting these changes due to the public health situation and the guidelines that are for us to live by.  Please be safe and take care of each other.
