Getty Up! M-E Students Strike Amazing Poses For Art Challenge

Posted

Tina Doherty, the Manchester Essex Middle School art teacher, asked students to participate in the Getty Museum Challenge, the viral program that features people mimicking well-known (and some not-so-well-known) works of art.  Doherty explains, “The J. Paul Getty Museum has challenged people staying ‘Safer-At-Home’ to recreate famous works of art using objects and people inside their homes.  The challenge was inspired by the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam and a brilliant Instagram account called ‘Between Art and Quarantine,’ but adapted with the invitation to use digitized and downloadable artworks from Getty’s online collection.

Art students at the Manchester Essex Regional Middle School were invited to take on the challenge.  Students used everything from pets and family members to fruit and musical instruments.  The results have been fantastic!”  Indeed, they are.  Thank you to Ms. Doherty and her students for sharing these marvelous recreations.
