Congratulations, Scouts!

On Sunday, July 26, Troop 3 Scouts and their families attended a Court of Honor in the Scout House yard.  At the Court of Honor, young men and young women of Troop 3 were awarded the merit badges and Scout ranks that they had earned over the last six months.  17 Scouts earned a total of 55 awards.  New to Troop 3 this year were the NOVA awards, in which Scouts were recognized for the work that they had done in the STEM field.  Additionally, Scouts and adult volunteers were recognized for their outstanding Scout spirit and service to the troop with awards and scholarships.

Scouts and adult merit badge counselors had to overcome many difficult obstacles while trying to earn merit badges and ranks during the pandemic.  Typically, Scouts would meet with merit badge counselors in person to go through the requirements of chosen merit badges.  Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, this was no longer an option. Requirements needed to be reviewed, and then had to be completed online when possible.  The Scouts were able to overcome adversity and still managed to earn many merit badges and ranks.  Another obstacle the Scouts had to face was holding the Court of Honor in a safe manner, which was accomplished by wearing masks and social distancing.
