Chef & Gardner Liz Barbour To Speak At The Next North Shore Horticultural Society Meeting

Posted

The North Shore Horticultural Society will hold its sixth meeting of the season on Thursday, February 27 at Sacred Heart Parish Hall, 62 School St, Manchester.  The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.

The evening’s featured program is called, “Cooking and Gardening from an Edible Garden,” and will be presented by chef and gardener, Liz Barbour.  All are welcome to attend.

The program will begin with a slideshow tour through Liz’s own cottage-sized edible gardens.  From this, we will learn how to use every square inch of a small garden to maximize both its beauty and its bounty of herbs, fruits, edible flowers and vegetables.

Following this tour, Liz will perform a cooking demonstration - and sampling - of two delicious recipes featuring fresh, healthy ingredients.  Her easy cooking techniques and tips will put you well on your way to preparing such meals at home.  Knives and knife sharpeners will be available for purchase.

Liz has been cooking professionally for more than twenty years.  She has developed her own style of cooking that emphasizes fresh vegetables and plenty of herbs, and perhaps a final flourish of brightly colored edible flower petals to make a dish irresistible.

We are celebrating the Society’s 121st year in 2020 and are very excited about each of our programs.  There is a $5 fee for non-members.  For more information, please call the North Shore Horticultural Society.
