Sue Thorne and Tom Kehoe 2020

When the Manchester 375th Anniversary Committee was formed, Tom Kehoe offered to co-chair the committee with Sue Thorne “temporarily.”  Well, here we are more than a year later, and this is a duo that just won’t quit.  This shot was snapped at the Manchester Historical Museum’s first 375th Lecture on the American Indians of Cape Ann last month, fundraising for the cause.  This week, Sue Thorne is thanking all those who helped with the incredibly successful 375th Gala at the Essex County Club two weeks ago.

375th Celebration Committee Thank You

What a celebration it was last Saturday night at the Gala at the Essex County Club.  Over 200 guests enjoyed friendship, delicious food, and very energetic bidding on more than 50 auction items.  The evening wouldn’t have been possible without the efforts and generosity of so many people and businesses.

Essex County Club was extremely generous in giving us the Club facilities for the evening.  Kudos to the entire staff and Manager, George Ladd.

We are very grateful to our Platinum Sponsor, Scott Energy, and to Chapman’s Florist for help with decorations, and to our Senator, Bruce Tarr, who in his inimitable fashion really got the crowd into the bidding on the live auction items.  We had hoped to have former Manchester resident, Fred Rice, with us to help with the auction.  He was unexpectedly hospitalized and we are happy to report that he is now doing well.

We wish to acknowledge our auction donors.  We had something for everyone!!  The bidding was competitive and energetic.  Thank you to all our donors:  4 Beach Gifts and Goodies, Allie’s Beach Street Café, Antique Table, BLAM Auto  Detailing, Barbara Almy, Bill Fusco, Black Arrow, Boston Bruins, Bravo by the Sea, Cape Ann Symphony  Carley Cook and Eric MacFarlane,  Christina’s Med Spa, Cort Furniture Rental and Brandon Lamphear, Crosby’s Markets, Essex Bird and Pet Supply, Feather and Hilburn Clothier, Jacek and Sula Makowski,  Joe Spaulding, Mark Weld and the Boch Center, Joh Kaneb and the Boston Red Sox, Kiki Taron Kinney, Kimberly Sabella, Laughing Gull at Summer Street.
