Shirley Mary (Moegle) Schylling, 93, beloved wife of the late Marvin Schylling, passed away on Saturday, May 9th, 2020 at Brooksby Village in Peabody. Born in St. Louis, MO, she was the daughter of the late Ollie and Amy (Ludwig) Moegle.

She was a long-time resident of Manchester, MA.

Shirley is survived by her three sons and their wives: Tom and Jan Schylling of Rehoboth Beach, DE, Jack and Shelagh Schylling of Essex, MA, David Schylling and Constance McCrane of Hamilton, MA; six grandchildren: David, Andy, Katie,  Ben, Ian and Grace Schylling, and three great grandchildren, Anna and Oliver Schylling and Wesley Acconey.

She attended Ursuline Academy and Fontbonne College in St. Louis.  She married her beloved husband Marvin in 1946, and they made Manchester their home for over 50 years.  She was a member of Essex County Club, Manchester Yacht Club, and the Chilton Club.  She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church.  She was a docent at the Peabody Museum and a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She met Marv at piano lessons when she was 13 and he was 14 years old.  Many family holidays were enlivened by their singing and playing.  They were married as soon as his days navigating B-29’s during WWII were over.  They had a long and loving romance and explored the world together.

Her many interests, after her family, included needlepoint, genealogy, gardening, music, tennis, and travel.  Shirley was a lifetime lover of dogs and they loved her right back.

One of her favorite pastimes was walking Singing Beach and she and Marv loved sailing their Rhodes 19 around Cape Ann.

She was a contributor to many charities.  The amounts were not big, but the thoughts behind them were.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in her memory to Care Dimensions Hospice, Suite B-102, Danvers, MA  01923

Due to Covid-19, a celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date.
