Robert B. Hardwick

Robert B. Hardwick peacefully passed away on Thursday July 9.  He was the husband of the late Carolyn (Magner) Hardwick with whom he shared 64 years of marriage.  Born in Marblehead, he was the son of the late Thomas and Eva Hardwick.   

Bob served his country in the U.S. Army’s 11th Airborne Division stationed in Sendai and Yakushima Island, Japan and also served in the Korean War.  He returned stateside where he was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant with the Eastern Army Anti-Aircraft Command and awarded the bronze star medal.  

Bob could light up a room with his smile, laugh and stories.  He had a keen interest in politics and loved to have lively discussions about the daily news events.   He taught his five daughters early in life the joys of family adventures.  Bob loved family vacations whether it was camping, visiting National Parks or the beaches of Florida.  He was an amazing cook and baker and loved to share his talents with his daughters. Nothing made Bob happier than sharing meals with his daughter’s friends and family.  His pies were famous and he spent many holidays baking with his granddaughters Courtney and Lizzy.   

Bob was cherished by his five daughters Mary Hardwick, Kathryn Hardwick Wogan and husband Michael, Caroline Johnson and her husband Kevin, Margaret Wallus and her husband Jay, and Patricia Hardwick and her husband Joe Morris; two sisters Patsy Cowhig and Annie Humphrey; two brothers Peter (Jeannette) Hardwick and David (Patricia) Hardwick; sisters-in-law Kathryn Calvert and Patricia Magner; granddaughters Courtney Famolare and her husband Eddie, Elizabeth Johnson and her significant other Tyler Putnam, Alison Kaye and her husband Edwin, and Jayna Wallus; great-grandchildren Jamison Famolare, Chad, Avaughn, and Julian Bousseau.  Bob was predeceased by his sisters Jane Mace and Elizabeth Mace and brother Donald Hardwick.  Bob leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.  

A graveside service for Bob will be held on Wednesday, July 15, at 1 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Manchester. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.
