Laddie-Leah Weld, 70, died at her home on August 12 surrounded by family and friends after a long and valiant battle with an extended illness. Born and raised in Manchester, MA, she was the daughter of the late Marion L. (Loeman) and William J. Dean, Jr.  Laddie attended Manchester schools, graduating from Manchester High School, Class of 1967, after which she went on to attend Miami Dade College in Miami, Fla. F or years, she owned and operated a day-care facility in Manchester for young children, a clear passion of hers. After her own children were grown and had moved on, she transitioned to becoming a residential real estate broker on the North Shore.  Laddie had a passion for music and dancing as well as animals, of which she had many dogs and cats of her own throughout her life.  She loved her children and friends, and her hometown of Manchester.

She is survived by two sons, Derek H. Weld of Boston, MA and Judson D. Weld of Bend, OR as well as her sister, Juddy H. Dean of Essex, MA and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her sister Sarah L. Dean.  Due to the Covid 19 pandemic, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cape Ann Animal Aid, 4 Paws Lane, Gloucester, MA 01930.
