Andrew C. Kourletis, 91, of Essex, husband of Aure M. (Mabalay) Kourletis, passed away on Tuesday, March 2 at the Addison Gilbert Hospital. He was born in Gloucester on June 9, 1929 and was the son of the late Constantinos and Grace (Saunders) Kourletis.

Andrew was a graduate of Gloucester High School, Class of 1947. During high school, he joined the ROTC Marching Band. In his younger years, he worked in the freezer at Birds Eye. He later became a welder and worked for Bomco and Hot Wat. He loved traveling with his wife and had been to many places in Canada, British Columbia, Victoria, Vancouver, Nanaimo and Kamloops, Montreal and Nova Scotia, to name a few. Traveling in the US they toured Hawaii, California, Arizona, Reno, Nevada, Las Vegas, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, Maine and they especially enjoyed their Alaskan Cruise. Greece and a Caribbean cruise rounded out their travels. Andrew played the saxophone and bass guitar and was in the Danny Oaks Band and numerous other bands including Union Hill Banjo Band. Andrew will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Aure M. Kourletis; his daughter, Andrea Ramos of Manchester-by-the-Sea; two grandsons, Ronald Ramos and his fiancé, Samantha Broulette, Peter Ramos and his wife, Jenna (Svenson) Ramos of Seabrook, NH.

Andrew was predeceased by his aunt, Ruth Packer and uncle, Charlie Saunders.

His graveside service will be held privately. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his memory to a charity of one's choice.
