Outdoor Luminaria Event At Manchester Public Library

Posted

This weekend, from 2 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 12, the Manchester Library and Town Hal will feature a decorated walkways with 375 electronic tea light "luminarias" to celebrate the start of the holiday season and to honor the Manchester-by-the-Sea’s 375th anniversary.

The event was rescheduled due to blisteringly cold downpours last week.  The luminaria display is part of the Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce's annual Christmas By The Sea, which historically has taken place over a weekend but has been stretched out this year over nearly two weeks to accommodate safety precautions from COVID-19.

Those who would like to join in the fun, there's still time to stop by the library on Central Street during curbside pickup hours to pick up a free single or multiple kit of luminarias to decorate at home, in time for December 12. Supplies are limited.

This event is sponsored by the 375th Celebration Committee, the Friends of the Manchester Library, and the Manchester-Essex Rotary Club.
