Next Friday, June 5, was supposed to be the day the Manchester-Essex Class of 2020 was to walk, to graduate properly with gowns and hats and valedictorians and selected teacher speeches and diplomas and cheering and launching into summer vacation (for seniors only) and into post high school life.
Well, now, a lot has happened and this year, as we know, it’s all different for the school’s graduating seniors. School officials and the school community are still working through details on the actual graduation date and event planning as details on a phased return to “normal” after COVID-related statewide quarantine. There is talk of an outdoor event that won’t try to duplicate a graduation ceremony, per se, but will nevertheless feel special and mark the occasion (and milestone). But some details are clear, and the celebration starts—when else?—on Friday, June 5 with a car parade that will spin around Manchester and Essex.
June 5 - Senior Spotlight Video. This video will include student performances, messages from the Class of 2020 and Faculty messages.
June 5 at 4:30 - Senior Car Parade. Students will begin to arrive at 4 p.m. We are planning a festive atmosphere in the parking lot and then a parade through the streets of Manchester and Essex.
