Update: The Veterans Honor Roll

Posted

We would like to thank all of those that have helped with the design, construction, permitting and of course, fundraising for the Veterans Honor Roll — we are very close to making the project a reality. The Veterans Honor Roll will recognize all men and women, both alive and deceased, who have served from World War I through the present, and who were residents of Manchester at the time they entered the service — some 900 strong! Many of these folks are friends, neighbors and relatives, and we now have the opportunity to recognize and thank them in a most deserving and visible way.

The Honor Roll is now fully designed, permitted and undergoing final pricing, which we expect to be in the range of $250–275,000. The target date to commence construction is this March, in cooperation with the abutting project to re-construct the Town Common. While we are at just about 75 percent of our fundraising goal, we still have some to go, and are reaching out for help in getting there.  Contributions/pledges to date have ranged in size from $100–$50,000 and all are tax-deductible.  Checks can be made out to: Amaral Bailey Post #113, American Legion, with a note in the memo section: Veterans Honor Roll.  Additionally, any member of the committee listed below is available to address any questions as well as to provide our informational piece on the project, in either hard-copy or electronic format.

We very much look forward to celebrating our Town’s 375th Anniversary by recognizing one of its most cherished constituencies — the veterans that fought for and defended it for us all.
