Posted

Glen Urquhart has announced that Gretchen Forsyth, a resident of Manchester, will be its next head of school. The move came after an extensive national search process that reviewed an impressive pool of candidates.

“Her passion for education, dedication to students, and commitment to supporting and developing faculty will ensure our program continues to flourish,” said George T. Balich, president of the Board of Trustees.

Glen Urquhart School (GUS) is an independent, coeducational day school for students in Pre-K through Grade 8. Students and teachers at GUS focus on a thematic curriculum that integrates experiential learning, interdisciplinary study, social-emotional learning, and community service. The 23-acre GUS campus encourages environmental awareness and features outdoor classrooms and a greenhouse, nature trails, and woodlands.

With nearly 20 years of experience in education including 10 years at Glen Urquhart, an MSW from Boston College, and an MA in Educational Leadership from the Teachers College, Columbia University’s Klingenstein Private School Leadership program, Ms. Forsyth is well-positioned to lead the school. Already a passionate and dedicated member of our community and current GUS parent, the school is looking forward to a seamless and natural transition.

“I look forward to working with our tremendous faculty to continue to grow and evolve this school we all know and love in innovative and inspiring ways,” shared Forsyth. “I love this school, these people, and this work. Together, with the faculty and staff, with the students and alumni, with all GUS families, past and present, we will accomplish great things. Most importantly, we will work to ensure the magic that is a GUS education endures long into the future.”
