Manchester Memorial Elementary School Celebrates Read Across America & Dr. Seuss's Birthday

Posted

On Monday, March 2nd, students and staff at Memorial School donned their most colorful and Seuss-inspired gear to celebrate the joy of reading and the great work of Dr. Seuss! Students were greeted by staff decked out as Seuss characters, enjoyed a Seuss Photo Booth for class photos, had One Fish, Two Fish at lunch, enjoyed a school wide DEAR time, a Seuss Raffle for taking the Reader's Pledge to be lifelong readers, and competed in a Classroom Door Decorating Contest (Congrats to Ms. Garofalo's 3rd grade for their win!) All in all, a fun day of learning and loving reading! This celebration has been an annual tradition for about 10 years now since MMES School Library Teacher, Ms. Samantha Silag, decided the long month of March needed some extra fun injected into the school days...next up, the 4th Annual MMES Poetry Cafe Night this Thursday, March 5th from 6-7:30pm.  All are welcome to this free event where MMES 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will share original works and favorite poems to celebrate the joy of poetry!
