We watched the steel frame go up last winter, then the great big stainless holding tanks somehow tucked into the structure that we now know is the home of the The Great Marsh Brewing Company in Essex, which opened in November. Kris McGinn Straub reached out to owner John Collins and over a couple of months assembled the story of how this perfectionist in beer draws from craft and family and music and brings it together. The result is a brewery next door that offers a rock & roll themed interior, a wide breadth of craft beers intended to spark excitement and interest, and a menu that may “go” with beer but stands entirely on its own. Incredible that this all came from a man who only discovered brewing beer several years ago.
