Checking Out "The Porch-Rait Project," On Exhibit Now At Cape Ann Museum

Last spring, while people were trying to coping with everyday changes brought about by COVID, four photographers—Jason Grow, Bill Sumner, Paul Cary Goldberg and Shawn G. Henry—began to take intimate portraits of families around Cape Ann in front of their homes, on their front porches. Shot during the early weeks of the pandemic, the 245 images are on an exhibit called, "The Porch-Rait Project," which raised $30,000 for The Open Door and can be seen at the Cape Ann Museum's Green campus.

Originally the idea of photographer Bill Sumner, the show features a series a framed and digital gallery of 245 images of families from Essex, Manchester, Rockport and Gloucester, all striking and personal.  Here is a sampling of portraits of families in Manchester and Essex.
