The Manchester-by-the-Sea Fire Department has said expected high winds and rains this afternoon has prompted town officials to postpone today's planned Christmas tree burning, which had been scheduled as a kick off to the town's 375th Anniversary Celebration.

The event had been set for 5 p.m. Saturday, January 25 at the Manchester Athletic Club.  In preparation, the town's composting service had been collecting discarded holiday trees from residents for the bonfire.

The new date is Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.

There are more than 20 community events scheduled in 2020 to celebrate the town's historic milestone.  Details on them can be found at the link below and on the 375th Committee Facebook page, as well as the MBTS town website.
