115 Years Ago – 1906
The new gasoline auxiliary schooner, Alert, recently built in town, was towed around to Gloucester by tug Nellie Saturday forenoon. She will be fitted for sea immediately with engine, and will be used in the southern seining fishery. She measures 139.97 tons gross.

The N.E.T. and T. Co. has had a gang of men at work resetting poles along the main street replacing the old ones with larger and stouter poles designed to carry much heavier cable.
