BankGloucester kicked off its 15th Annual “Banking for the Community” program last week, officially opening public voting for local community organizations to secure their share of $30,000 in donations from the Bank. Voting started September 1 and continues through September 30.
This Halloween season, Hammond Castle Museum will offer a room-to-room theatrical performance of The Masquerade of Abbadia Mare, an adaptation of five Edgar Allan Poe stories. Set within the Castle and adapted around one of America’s most prolific inventors of his time, John Hays Hammond Jr, the Horror-Fan culture will recognize many of the elements of Poe’s short stores woven together and set at the time of the historic 1929 stock market crash

The Manchester Club reconvened after its summer break last Thursday evening at the Legion Hall. Todd Crane and his kitchen crew served up a delicious meal of Mort Mayo’s Baked Haddock with mashed potatoes and green beans along with a dessert of ice cream bars. Immediately following dinner, Club President Eric Aldrich called the meeting to order and invited the evening’s guest speaker, Chief of Police Todd Fitzgerald to lead the National Anthem. Following the National Anthem, President Aldrich held a moment of silence to remember the passings of long-time members John Hannah and Ed Parsons. Club Secretary Craige McCoy followed this up with the secretary’s report and Club Treasurer Bill Scott updated club members of Club finances. Each report was immediately accepted without any objection from the membership.
Cape Ann Symphony proudly announces the launch of the orchestra's 71st concert season on Sunday, October 2 at 2 p.m. at Manchester-Essex High School Auditorium. The Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce and the Cape Ann Community Foundation celebrated the official opening of their new office and visitor center, located on Gloucester’s Harbor Loop, on August 28.
